Li Keqaing Meets with President Joko Widodo of Indonesia and Attends the China-Indonesia Economic Cooperation Forum Together with Him

In the morning of March 27, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Joko Widodo of Indonesia who came to China to pay a state visit and attend the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Indonesia share profound traditional friendship. It is the common aspiration of the two peoples to pursue peace, seek development and maintain a peaceful international environment and stable surroundings. Yesterday, President Xi Jinping held a successful talk with you. The relations and cooperation between China and Indonesia are at a critical moment inheriting the past and ushering into the future. The Chinese side is willing to join hands with the Indonesian side to deepen the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and promote the bilateral practical cooperation to another new high.

Li Keqiang pointed out that Indonesia has made a grand five-year-plan concerning infrastructure construction. The Chinese government encourages more competitive Chinese enterprises with high quality and sound reputation to invest and develop business in Indonesia, and participate in the construction of high-speed rail, light rail, port-centered industrial parks and other projects. The Chinese enterprises should not only share their technologies and experience, but also ensure the progress and quality of the projects, so that they will become the best partners of Indonesia in terms of infrastructure construction. The Chinese side also stands ready to establish a mechanism for cooperation in production capacity and carry out capacity cooperation of mutual benefit in an all-round manner with Indonesia, so as to help Indonesia turn its rich resources into a steady flow of production capacity and speed up its industrialization process. I hope both sides will deeply tap potential for trade and investment, expand the scale of two-way trade and upgrade the level of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Li Keqiang stressed that the Chinese side appreciates Indonesia, as the largest member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), for its positive role in promoting the sound development of the China-ASEAN relations. We are willing to work with the ASEAN countries including Indonesia to make unremitting efforts to safeguard peace, development and property in East Asia.

Joko Widodo expressed that Indonesia hopes to connect its strategies of economic development with those of China, upgrade the level of economic cooperation, strengthen bilateral cooperation in energy, maritime industry, agriculture, aviation industry and tourism and expand bilateral trade volume. Indonesia welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the construction of high-speed rail, light rail, electricity and other infrastructures as well as the construction of industrial parks. Indonesia supports the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and hopes the AIIB contribute to regional economic development.

After the meeting, Li Keqiang and Joko Widodo jointly attended and addressed the China-Indonesia Economic Cooperation Forum with the theme of “Deepening Mutually Beneficial Cooperation, Sharing Development Opportunities”.

Li Keqiang expressed that as the largest developing country, China is speeding up the promotion of its industrialization process. Chinese equipments and technologies are competitive in the international market, and are becoming stronger step by step during competition. Both China and Indonesia are populous countries, enjoying great market potential. The industrialization process of the both countries stands at a development stage of great complementarity. Both sides should connect China’s advanced and surplus production capacity with Indonesia’s plan of infrastructure construction and promoting industrialization, combine China’s advantages in capital and technology with Indonesia’s advantage in market and resource, and promote the synergetic development of upstream and downstream industries, which will bring multiple fruits with one effort. The Chinese government encourages Chinese enterprises to boost investment and conduct more business in Indonesia to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.

Joko Widodo expressed that Indonesia enjoys great potential for the development of its maritime economy, shows great demands for the construction of highway, ports, airports, power and other infrastructures as well as the construction of industrial parks. Indonesia hopes to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side. The Indonesian government welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Indonesia and will provide them with sound investment environment.
