In the afternoon of March 30, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Edgar Lungu of Zambia who was in China for a state visit and attendance of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2015.

Li Keqiang said that the China-Zambia relations have withstood the test of vicissitudes of international situation, and become a model for equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation between China and the developing countries in Africa. This morning, President Xi Jinping held highly fruitful talks with you. We are willing to work together with Zambia to comprehensively push the development of the China-Zambia relations to a new stage.

Li Keqiang pointed out that both China and Zambia are developing countries, and both give first priority to development and are committed to improving people’s livelihood. We are willing to actively carry out industry docking and production capacity cooperation with Zambia, and support Chinese enterprises to conduct cooperation in fields such as transportation infrastructure, electricity, communication, mining industry and agricultural product processing in Zambia so as to achieve complementary advantages, mutual benefits and win-win results. China is willing to work with Zambia and Tanzania to activate the TAZARA Railway and make this “Friendship Road” a “Development Road” in the new era.

Edgar Lungu said that Zambia-China traditional friendship was forged by the older generations of leaders of both countries and has become even firmer as time goes by. Zambia admires China’s development achievements, appreciates China’s adherence to the peaceful development path, and hopes to learn from the successful experience in China’s development. Zambia supports the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, is willing to strengthen infrastructure construction cooperation with China in fields such as trade, investment, railway and road and to expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Zambia.
