In the afternoon of March 31, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda who was in China for a state visit and attendance of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2015.

Li Keqiang said that Mr. President is an old friend of China, and we highly appreciate the important contribution you have made to the China-Uganda and China-Africa relations. The current China-Uganda relations are in sound development, and can be described as a model of South-South Cooperation in the new era. President Xi Jinping and Your Excellency attended the BFA Annual Conference 2015 together. China is willing to work with Uganda to consolidate the traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation and push the bilateral relations for new development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to take an active part in the “Uganda Vision 2040” by better connecting China’s own industrial advantages and surplus capacity with Uganda’s demands in infrastructure construction to help Uganda accelerate the process of industrialization and modernization and better realize an independent and sustainable development; sharing and exchanging relevant development experience with Uganda without any reservation; promoting the construction of major projects such as airports, hydropower stations and communication facilities in Uganda; jointly promoting the construction of the East Africa railway network with Uganda and other East African countries, so as to achieve mutual benefits, win-win results and common development.

Yoweri Museveni said that China has long been standing firm with the African countries and supporting their development. He thanked China for helping Uganda build urgently needed projects such as hydropower stations and railways. He welcomed Chinese enterprises to continue participating in Uganda’s projects in fields such as energy, chemical fertilizer, agricultural product processing and hydropower development and in the construction of the East Africa railway network.
