On May 11 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Minsk with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Belarus have maintained a sound relationship for a long time. Both sides have enjoyed firm mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and booming momentum in bilateral cooperation in all fields. The exchanges between legislative bodies of both sides constitute an important part of China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership. Over the past years, the National People's Congress (NPC) of China and the National Assembly of Belarus have maintained friendly exchanges, enriched the connotation of bilateral relations, enhanced the mutual understanding between the two peoples and cemented the social foundation for all-round cooperation between the two nations. We reached consensus on enhancing cooperation between the legislative bodies of both sides, adding impetus into the development of China-Belarus relations. I had an in-depth talk with President Alexander Lukashenko yesterday, reaching important consensus on consolidating traditional friendship between the two sides in the new era and deepening the China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership. We signed the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus, in which the long-lasting friendship between the two peoples as well as the objectives, principles and direction of developing bilateral relations are defined as articles of law. I hope that the Chinese and Belarusian parliaments could endorse the treaty as soon as possible, continue to intensify exchanges and cooperation and earnestly implement the new consensus reached by us in line with the demands of the development of China-Belarus relations in the new era.

Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese and Belarusian people fought shoulder to shoulder against the brutal aggression of the fascism and militarism in World War II, forging a solid friendship with their blood. The commemorative events the two countries hold this year are aimed at safeguarding the victorious outcome of the World War II and carrying forward the historical fairness and international justice.

Mikhail Myasnikovich and Vladimir Andreichenko warmly welcomed Xi Jinping's visit to Belarus, noting that his visit is very successful. The Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China as well as the Joint Statement between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China on Further Developing and Deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership jointly signed by President Xi Jinping and President Alexander Lukashenko will expand the cooperation space between the two nations and greatly advance the development of Belarus-China relations. The Belarusian legislative bodies will speed up the ratification process of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China, earnestly implement the important consensuses reached by President Xi Jinping and President Alexander Lukashenko, and play an active role in deepening bilateral political and economic cooperation. With a growing number of Belarusian people enthusiastic about learning the Chinese culture, the National Assembly of Belarus supports the expansion of exchanges and cooperation in such people-to-people and cultural sectors as education, culture and tourism, so as to consolidate the public support for bilateral friendship. The National Assembly of Belarus is ready to continue strengthening exchanges between the legislative bodies of both countries, including in keeping close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs and further cementing mutual trust and support. Belarus supports China in holding the commemorative events marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War in this September. The two nations holding these commemorative events are aimed to remember the history, uphold justice and safeguard world peace.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were present at the meeting.
