On July 8, 2015, Deputy Director-General Gui Congyou of the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a briefing for Chinese and foreign media at the press center of the Chinese delegation to the 7th BRICS Summit and the15th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on the bilateral meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin of Russia and answered their questions. Reporters from nearly 60 Chinese and foreign media such as Russia Today, Channel One Russia, Reuters, Associated Press, Financial Times, People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency and China Central Television attended the briefing.

Gui Congyou expressed that the two heads of state had an in-depth exchange of opinions on bilateral relations and international and regional topics of common interest. Both sides decided to continuously deepen cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, investment, energy sources, aviation and aerospace and infrastructure construction and earnestly link up the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt with the Eurasian Economic Union so as to further push forward the high-level development of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.
