On July 8 local time, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India in Ufa of Russia.

Xi Jinping pointed out that we reached important consensus on enriching the connotation of China-India strategic partnership and building a closer development partnership in Xi'an this May, sending to the two peoples and the international community a positive signal that China and India, as two major developing nations, will join efforts for common development. With the joint efforts of both sides, various consensus reached by us is being implemented and bilateral cooperation in all fields including legislative bodies, railways, industrial parks and smart cities is being steadily advanced.

Xi Jinping stressed that at present, both sides need to join efforts to safeguard the positive development momentum of China-India relations, open up a new chapter for mutually beneficial cooperation, maintain high-level contacts, and intensify strategic communication at all levels. The two countries need to conclude the feasibility study on major cooperative projects as scheduled, forge flagship projects for cooperation, earnestly implement the plan for cultural exchange, and carry out cooperation between think-tanks, media and local governments of the two nations. Differences should also be managed and controlled to jointly safeguard the peace and tranquility in the border area. Both countries should also join efforts to promote the construction of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), New Development Bank (NDB) of BRICS nations and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor (BCIM), and discuss on effectively connecting China's initiative of the "Belt and Road" with related initiatives of India, so as to achieve mutually beneficial cooperation and common development.

Xi Jinping noted that both as firm supporter and active constructor of the BRICS countries, China and India should jointly devote to building a closer, more comprehensive and more solid partnership among BRICS countries, and strive to promote the BRICS nations to play an active and constructive role so as to make greater contributions to the world peace and development.

Narendra Modi noted that at present, India and China enjoy sound bilateral relations and witness further enhanced mutual political trust. He had multiple meetings with President Xi Jinping, and India and China also maintain a close communication. The bilateral economic and trade cooperation in recent years has been further expanded, and cooperation projects in science, technology, space, infrastructure and other sectors have been continuously advanced. India welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in India, and stands ready to work with China to enhance strategic communication and coordination and properly handle the differences between the two nations including the border issue.

Narendra Modi expressed that India is willing to boost cooperation with China within the framework of the BRICS nations. The establishment of the New Development Bank (NDB) of BRICS nations and the AIIB provides India and China with more opportunities in deepening cooperation, and India is willing to actively participate in the construction and cooperative projects of above-mentioned banks.
