Xi Jinping Meets with President Jacob Zuma of South Africa

On July 9 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Ufa of Russia with President Jacob Zuma of South Africa.

Xi Jinping expressed that in the last two years, Mr. President and I successfully visited each other's country and made long-term plan and comprehensive deployment for enhancing bilateral cooperation. Bilateral relations keep a strong development momentum and are at the best period in history. Bilateral strategic cooperation in a series of important fields has scored remarkable achievements, greatly enriching the connotation of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. China will enhance coordination with South Africa to mainly advance mutually beneficial cooperation in such key fields as marine economy development, industrial production capacity, economic special zone, energy and finance so as to translate bilateral friendship and mutual political trust into tangible cooperative results and better benefit the two peoples. China and South Africa keep sound communication and coordination on major international issues, with which I feel delighted. China is also willing to boost cooperation with South Africa within the framework of BRICS nations to bring impetus to their construction, push the BRICS countries to play a positive and constructive role in international affairs and safeguard the common interests of emerging countries and other developing nations.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Africa are always a community of shared destiny and common interests, and strengthening solidarity and cooperation with African countries is always an important footstone of China's foreign policy. China will join efforts with Africa to turn the advantages of bilateral traditional friendship into development impetus for cooperation thus realize mutual benefit, win-win results and common development. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and as co-chair of FOCAC, China will work with South Africa to make the FOCAC to be held in South Africa this year a grand event for strengthening China-Africa unity and blueprinting China-Africa cooperation.

Jacob Zuma said that he agrees to President Xi Jinping's positive comments on bilateral relations and bilateral relations are established on high mutual trust. During his visit to China last year, He and President Xi Jinping reached important consensus on deepening bilateral relations. Bilateral cooperation in key fields such as marine economy, finance, agriculture, tourism, science, technology and energy are progressing smoothly in line with the cooperation plan made by both sides. The two countries also keep effective coordination in multilateral affairs. The development momentum of BRICS countries is unstoppable. South Africa agrees to strengthen cooperation with other BRICS countries so as to enhance capacity of emerging markets and other developing nations in safeguarding common rights and interests.

Jacob Zuma noted that South Africa appreciates China's long-term and vigorous support to economic and social development of African countries, its understanding to positions of African nations on major international issues and its high attention paid to the FOCAC. As the host country of this year's FOCAC, South Africa hopes to obtain positive results from it through close cooperation with China, and also wishes to boost health care cooperation between African countries and China under the framework of the FOCAC.
