On April 20 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Islamabad with representatives of friendly personages and groups of Pakistan and conferred the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence Friendship Award to them, commending the contribution they made for promoting the friendship between China and Pakistan.

Accompanied by President Mamnoon Hussain of Pakistan, Xi Jinping conferred the friendship awards to the representatives of friendly personages and groups, shaking hands with them warmly and extending his congratulations to them. The friendly personages and groups that were conferred with the awards included Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production, Secretary-General of the Pakistan Muslim League and Chairman of Pakistan-China Institute Mushahid Hussain Sayed, who has long been actively promoting China in all circles of Pakistan, Chinese memorial park guardian Ali Ahmad Jan, who has been voluntarily guarding the park for 37 years, former Ambassador of Pakistan to China Masood Khan, the National University of Modern Languages of Pakistan, which established the first Confucius institute in Pakistan together with the Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), the All Pakistan China Friendship Association, which actively facilitates the people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cultivates Pakistani youths' affection towards China, the National Management College, which devotes to the communication between the governments and peoples of the two countries, as well as a Pakistani medical team, which participated in the Wenchuan earthquake relief in 2008. Xi Jinping spoke highly of the firm belief in China-Pakistan friendship upheld by them and the unremitting efforts they made for promoting the friendship cause between the two countries, and expressed his gratitude to people from all walks of life of Pakistan who devoted themselves to bilateral friendship.
