On April 20 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Islamabad with former President of Pakistan and Co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari and leaders of other major political parties of Pakistan.

Xi Jinping stressed that Pakistan is China's all-weather friend. Our Pakistani friends told me that all political parties of Pakistan support China-Pakistan friendship. The China-Pakistan relationship cannot reach such a high level without the long-term concern and support of all the Pakistani political parties. The Communist Party of China (CPC) attaches importance to the friendly relations with the political parties in Pakistan, and stands ready to conduct more inter-party exchanges and cooperation with you. China and Pakistan are both developing countries that are faced with the historical task of growing the economy and improving people's livelihood. As Pakistan's neighbor and friend, we sincerely hope that all political parties of Pakistan will work in unity and cooperate on the basis of fundamental interests of the country to jointly devote to maintaining national stability, growing the economy and improving people's livelihood. We have full confidence in the future of Pakistan.

Asif Ali Zardari and other party leaders expressed that President Xi Jinping is warmly welcomed to visit Pakistan, and the Pakistani people eagerly look forward to and feel delighted with his visit. They believe that this visit is bound to infuse strong driving force into the development of the relations between Pakistan and China. They thanked the Chinese side for supporting the building of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor, which is conducive not only to driving the economic development and improving people's livelihood in Pakistan, but also to maintaining regional stability and achieving common prosperity.
