On April 21, 2015, President Xi Jinping met in Islamabad with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain.

On that morning, after delivering a speech at the Pakistani Parliament, Xi Jinping, accompanied by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, went to the Presidential Palace by the courtesy carriage for president. Twenty mighty courtesy guards riding fine horses escorted him on both sides. When Xi Jinping arrived at the Presidential Palace, President Mamnoon Hussain of Pakistan came to the doorway to welcome him.

Xi Jinping pointed out that you visited China twice last year and also were the first foreign state head to visit China since Chinese new year. I chose Pakistan as the first stop of my first overseas visit this year, fully reflecting the intimacy of China-Pakistan relations. I hope to, through this visit, consolidate bilateral traditional friendship and push for new development in bilateral cooperation so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples. I held talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif yesterday and we agreed to elevate bilateral relations to an all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation and deepen the connotation of China-Pakistan community of shared destiny. I also had extensive contacts with people of all circles in Pakistan. My visit has achieved fruitful results, and I am satisfied with this and more confident in the future development of bilateral relations.

Xi Jinping stressed in the next phase, leaders of both countries should maintain the tradition of high-level mutual visits, enhance strategic communication and keep to the general direction of bilateral relations. Both sides should establish a strategic framework for bilateral practical cooperation centered on construction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and with emphasis on cooperation in four fields of Gwadar Port, energy, transportation infrastructure and industries. China supports Pakistan to advance counter-terrorism strategies in line with its national conditions and will enhance bilateral counter-terrorism cooperation. Both sides should take China-Pakistan Year for Friendly Exchanges as an opportunity to promote exchanges in areas such as culture, education, youth, think-tank and media. China appreciates Pakistan for pursuing a good-neighborly foreign policy, backs Pakistan to improve relations with its neighboring countries and will boost coordination and cooperation with Pakistan to safeguard regional peace and stability together.

Mamnoon Hussain expressed that the Pakistani people had been looking forward to President Xi Jinping’s visit and congratulate on the fruitful achievements accomplished by his visit and thank China for its constant valuable support to Pakistan in multiple fields. Mamnoon Hussain stressed that Pakistan firmly pursues the One China policy, and staunchly backs the stance of the Chinese government on issues concerning China’s core interests as well as China’s efforts in safeguarding national security and fighting against terrorism. The Pakistan-China Economic Corridor will grow into a key milestone in regional development, which will not only tangibly benefit the two peoples but also benefit the region. Pakistan will join efforts with China to earnestly push the construction of relevant projects.

Both sides also exchanged views on situations in Afghanistan and Yemen as well as other international and regional issues.

Following the meeting, Mamnoon Hussain conferred on Xi Jinping the Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country's highest award for foreign leaders. Xi Jinping noted that this fully embodies the friendly feelings of the Pakistani government and people toward the Chinese people.

Peng Liyuan, Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other officials also attended the above activities.
