On September 23 local time, President Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan attended in Seattle the reception hosted by Chinese community in the US. In his speech, Xi Jinping stressed that the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation represents the dream shared by Chinese people living at home and abroad. The Chinese people are now closer to the goal of achieving great national rejuvenation than in any period in history. He believes the Chinese community in the US can surely make unique contributions to this great process.

In his remarks, Xi Jinping, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, extended greetings and wishes to all the compatriots working and living in the US. Xi Jinping noted that all the overseas compatriots in the US have been struggling tenaciously and pioneering with painstaking efforts, making contributions to the development and prosperity of the US and winning them the respect of the US people. 150 years ago, hundreds of thousands of Chinese labors travelled across the sea to the US to participate in the construction of the Pacific Railroad, paving the strategic corridor leading to the Western US and becoming a monument of Chinese compatriots in the US featuring pioneering, forging ahead and dedication spirits. The Chinese compatriots in the US, concerned about the destiny of their motherland, actively supported the fight of their motherland against the aggression of the Japanese militarists, and enthusiastically supports the construction of their motherland and promotes the peaceful development of relations across the Taiwan Strait, making significance contributions to national development, unification and rejuvenation of their motherland. As the participant, constructor and promoter of China-US relationship, the Chinese compatriots in the US build a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and two peoples. The accomplishments achieved in China-US relations in the past 30-odd years are inseparable to the unremitting efforts of the Chinese compatriots in the US.

Xi Jinping stressed that the China-US relationship is one of the most important bilateral relations in the world. Since President Barack Obama and I reached consensus on building a new model of major-country relationship between both countries in 2013, the two countries have witnessed frequent high-level exchanges and constant new progress in bilateral cooperation in various fields. China and the US maintaining stable relations not only conduces to the two nations, but also benefits the whole world. China and the US will firmly stick to the correct direction of bilateral relations, make the "cake of common interests" bigger and bigger and join efforts to address the common challenges in the 21st century, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples as well as the people in the rest of the world.

Xi Jinping briefed on the strategic layout of China's "four comprehensiveness", domestic economic situation and its peaceful development path, and also presented the compatriots with his three wishes. The first is that they can actively integrate themselves into the US mainstream society, abide by local laws, respect local customs, get along well with people of other races and help promote the social and economic development of local communities. The second is to bring into full play their advantages in a thorough knowledge covering both west and east and both China and the US, so as to build bridge for China-US mutually beneficial cooperation, contribute more positive energy to China-US relations and inject new imputes into China-US friendship. The third is to actively promote the Chinese culture, tell local people the "Chinese story", boost the understanding of the US people to China, and consolidate the public opinion foundation of China-US relations.
