Xi Jinping Attends Welcoming Ceremony Held by Queen Elizabeth Ⅱof UK

On October 20 local time, President Xi Jinping, who was in the UK for a state visit, attended the grand welcoming ceremony held by Queen ElizabethⅡof the UK at Horse Guards Parade in London.

In autumn days, London enjoys fine weather with golden sunlight shining on greens. At noon, Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and his wife Camilla came to the hotel where President Xi Jinping and his Wife Mme. Peng Liyuan stayed to invite them.

At around 12:10 a.m., accompanied by Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, President Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan arrived at the Royal Pavilion on House Guards Parade. In accordance with the highest standard of royal etiquette of the UK, 62 rounds of gun salute from the Tower of London and 41 from the Green Park were fired respectively.

After ascending to the Royal Pavilion, President Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan were greeted personally by Queen ElizabethⅡand her husband Prince Philip. The guard of honor saluted and the military band played China's national anthem. Accompanied by Prince Philip, Xi Jinping inspected the guard of honor.

After the welcoming ceremony, President Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan , accompanied by the Queen and her husband, rode a royal carriage to Buckingham Palace where they were to stay, with both Chinese and British national anthems being played.

Representative of the Queen in Greater London Kenneth Olisa, Prime Minister David Cameron, Secretary of State for the Home Department Theresa May, Chief of the Defence Staff Nicholas Houghton, Lord Mayor of the City of London Alan Yarrow, Lord Mayor of Westminster Christabel Flight and others attended the ceremony.

At noon, President Xi Jinping and his wife, Mme. Peng Liyuan attended the luncheon held by Queen ElizabethⅡ.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended aforementioned events.
