2015-10-21 10:02

On October 20 local time, President Xi Jinping met at the Buckingham Palace where he stayed with Duke of Cambridge Prince William of the UK.

Xi Jinping pointed out that your visit to China this March was very successful. China-UK comprehensive strategic partnership has entered the second decade this year. Bilateral personnel exchanges in various fields and at all levels are notably active and the development of bilateral relations enjoys broad prospects. My current visit to the UK is to deepen China-UK relations, expand bilateral cooperation and enhance the friendship between both peoples. It is a trip of friendship and cooperation, and I hope that it will usher in a new chapter in China-UK relations.

Xi Jinping indicated that in recent years China has made outstanding achievements in wildlife protection and combat against illegal trade of wild animals. China is willing to continue to strengthen cooperation in wildlife protection with countries around the world including the UK.

Prince William cheerfully recalled his visit to China this March, welcomed once again President Xi Jinxing's visit to the UK and expressed his belief that the visit will strongly promote UK-China cooperation in a wide range of areas. He made positive comments on China's determination to crack down on illegal ivory trade, appreciated the active measures China has taken and agreed to strengthen international cooperation in wildlife protection.

Both sides also exchanged views on China-UK cooperation in football, and Prince William wished China's football cause greater success at an early date.

Yang Jiechi and others attended the meeting.
