On October 21 local time, President Xi Jinping visited the Imperial College London.

When arriving at the Imperial College London, President Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan were greeted in the main entrance hall by Duke of York Prince Andrew and Chief Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne of the UK and the President of the college. The President introduced to Xi Jinping the overview of the college and its cooperation with relevant universities and institutions in China.

Accompanied by Prince Andrew, Xi Jinping visited the Data Science Institute and listened to relevant introduction of analyzing and researching China's population flow, the influence of the "Belt and Road" on countries along the routes, personalized medical treatment, urban metro management and other cases by utilizing big data.

Later on, Xi Jinping left for the Hamlyn Centre for Medical Robotics of the college to visit the display of medical robots and minimally invasive surgery by robots, and sought to understand the cooperation between the center and China.

At the end of the visit, Xi Jinping shook hands with Chinese and UK student representatives one by one and held warm talks with them, expressing his hope that they will make their due contributions to China-UK scientific research cooperation and the common prosperity of the two countries.

The Imperial College London was established in 1907, and its full name is "Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine". Now it accommodates 13,000 full-time students with over 2,000 Chinese students.
