On October 22 local time, President Xi Jinping, specially accompanied by Duke of York Prince Andrew and Chief Secretary to the Treasury Greg Hands of the UK, visited Inmarsat in London.

Xi Jinping viewed the display board of Inmarsat’s history and its cooperation with China, as well as its satellite equipments, and later on went to Inmarsat’s network operation centre to view the global transportation satellite operation system.

Xi Jinping expressed that China and Inmarsat enjoy solid cooperation foundation and their cooperation prospects are broadened as the advancement of “Belt and Road” construction. Creating interconnected conditions and environment is a key move for “Belt and Road” construction. China stands ready to, together with relevant countries, improve connectivity in international communication and build a silk road of smooth flow of information. China and the UK to enhance cooperation in the field of satellite mobile communication helps promote bilateral “Belt and Road” cooperation, and the relevant cooperation results will also bring benefits to the people of other countries. It is hoped that Inmarsat can continue to strengthen cooperation with relevant Chinese institutions to add new highlights to mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the UK.

Headquartered in London, Inmarsat is an international joint venture providing global communication and positioning services by utilizing maritime satellites. It originated from the International Maritime Satellite Organization with China as one of the founders.
