Xi Jinping Meets with Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung of Viet Nam

On November 6 local time, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President, met in Hanoi with Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung of Viet Nam.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Viet Nam, as important and close neighbors as well as cooperative partners to each other, constitute a community of common destiny with strategic significance. Both China and Viet Nam regard their relations with the other as a special priority in their diplomatic relationship. He had fruitful talks with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong yesterday, and both sides agreed to, based on the "sixteen-character" guideline and "four good" spirit, deepen strategic mutual trust, enhance practical cooperation in all fields, and enrich the connotation of China-Viet Nam comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation. Both sides have signed a series of cooperation agreements. He is satisfied with the achievements yielded in the visit and is confident in the development prospect of bilateral relations. China is willing to join efforts with Viet Nam to cement traditional friendship, boost solidarity and cooperation, safeguard common interests, and achieve their respective development goals. China is ready to, together with neighboring nations including Viet Nam, strengthen docking of development strategies, promote the construction of connectivity, push forward regional common development, build a regional community of common destiny, and strive for win-win, multi-win and all-win results.

Xi Jinping spoke highly of the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Assembly of Viet Nam. Xi Jinping pointed out that the legislative bodies of both countries play a significant role in the political life of the two nations and also serve as important bridge facilitating mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. The legislative bodies of both countries are expected to contribute more to cementing the public opinion foundation of China-Viet Nam relations. Xi Jinping briefed Nguyen Sinh Hung on China's democracy with socialist characteristics and law-based governance.

Nguyen Sinh Hung noted that he welcomes General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to pay a state visit to Viet Nam and his visit to the National Assembly. Viet Nam always remembers the valuable support offered by China during its revolution and construction, completely agrees that the two parties and two countries should enhance mutual trust, deepen exchanges and practical cooperation, firmly inherit and maintain the traditional friendship between the two peoples, and actively push forward the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation. The National Assembly of Viet Nam is willing to make positive efforts to this end and will conduct close exchanges and cooperation with the NPC. Viet Nam hopes to see a stable and prosperous China and expects it to play a bigger role in international affairs.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi, Wang Jiarui and other members of the Chinese delegation, as well as Tòng Thị Phóng, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee and Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly, Pham Bình Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, and others were present at the meeting.

On the morning of the same day, Xi Jinping also laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to pay respect.
