2016-10-13 14:37

On October 13, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Phnom Penh by special plane, starting his state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Around 12:25 at noon local time, special plane arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport. When Xi Jinping stepped out of the cabin door, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace Prince Kong Sam Ol, Prince Norodom Chakrapong, Princess Norodom Arunrasmy and others warmly welcomed him by the accommodation ladder, and guards of courtesy lined up on both sides of the red carpet. Cambodian children presented jasmine flower bracelets to Xi Jinping. Holding the portraits of leaders of the two countries, local people waved the national flags of the two countries and flower bouquet to warmly welcome Xi Jinping's arrival.

Xi Jinping extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the Cambodian people, stressing that Cambodia is an important member of the ASEAN. In recent years, Cambodia has obtained remarkable achievements in its national construction, constantly improved people's living standard and played a more and more important role in regional and international affairs. China and Cambodia are good neighbors and true friends with all sincerity. Since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relationship 58 years ago, China-Cambodia good-neighborly friendship, jointly forged and carefully cultivated by the older generations of the two countries' leaders, has withstood vicissitudes of the international situation and grown stronger as time passes by. The in-depth development of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership not only brings tangible benefits to the two countries and their peoples, but also makes positive contribution to promoting regional and world peace, stability and prosperity. I look forward to exchanging in-depth views with Cambodian leaders on bilateral relations and other topics of common concern. It is believed that the visit this time will elevate China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new stages and bring greater benefit to the two peoples.

Kong Sam Ol accompanied Xi Jinping to the hotel where he would stay and handed over the flower basket to Xi Jinping from King Norodom Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of Cambodia.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia also greeted them at the airport.

After his state visit to Cambodia, Xi Jinping will also pay state visit to Bangladesh and attend the eighth BRICS Summit to be hosted in Goa, India.
