On October 13, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping visited Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk of Cambodia in Phnom Penh.

Xi Jinping noted that China-Cambodia friendship is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples. Leaders of both countries frequently meet like old friends and visit each other as often as relatives do, which not only embodies the special friendship between China and Cambodia, but also plays an important role in pushing forward bilateral relationship. The Cambodian royal family shares a profound friendship with China. King Father Norodom Sihanouk was a good and respected friend of the Chinese people as well as a symbol of China-Cambodia friendship. We welcome Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and King Norodom Sihamoni to continually regard China as a second home and take frequent trips to China. The Chinese side is willing to work with Cambodia to carry forward the friendship jointly forged by leaders of previous generations of both countries, and always be each other's ironclad friend.

Norodom Monineath Sihanouk said that the Cambodian people have long looked forward to President Xi Jinping's visit and believe that it would further promote Cambodia-China traditional friendship. Cambodia-China relations serve as a model for cooperation with mutual trust between big and small countries. The unbreakable bilateral friendship has taken roots deeply in the heart of the Cambodian people.
