Xi Jinping Arrives in Goa of India to Attend the 8th BRICS Summit

On October 15, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Goa of India to attend the 8th BRICS Summit upon the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India.

At about 1:00 p.m. local time, Xi Jinping’s special plane arrived at Goa International Airport. Senior officials of the Indian government greeted him beside the gangway ladder of the plane.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi, Zhou Xiaochuan and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Luo Zhaohui, Chinese Ambassador to India, greeted them at the airport as well.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the BRICS cooperation mechanism, and the summit this time is themed with "Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions". During the summit, leaders of BRICS countries will exchange in-depth views on BRICS cooperation and other international and regional issues of common concern and discuss on the development blueprint of BRICS cooperation.

Xi Jinping arrived in Goa after concluding his state visit to Bangladesh. Xi Jinping left Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh on the morning of October 15, local time. Upon his departure, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh and major cabinet ministers of the Bangladeshi government saw him off at the airport.

Before Xi Jinping left Bangladesh, he laid a wreath at the National Martyrs' Monument of the country.
