On October 15, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Goa of India with President Jacob Zuma of South Africa.

Xi Jinping pointed out that in recent years, China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership has maintained a strong development momentum with increasingly enriched connotation. China is ready to work with South Africa to comprehensively and steadily push for continuous and concrete outcomes from bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields, so as to better benefit the two peoples. Both sides should maintain high-level exchanges, deepen communication and cooperation between political parties, legislative bodies, armed forces and security sectors, share experience on governance and administration of state affairs, and continue mutual understanding and support on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. The two sides should promote friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields in a coordinated manner, make substantial progress on cooperation projects in such areas as railway corridor, science and technology parks, vocational training and local affairs as soon as possible, maintain close coordination in international affairs and strive to push forward the stable development of BRICS cooperation, so as to jointly make greater contribution to world peace, stability and prosperity. China supports South Africa in playing a bigger role in international and regional affairs.

Xi Jinping stressed that China stands firm in supporting African nations to pursue development paths that suit their own national conditions and free themselves from external interference and control. China is willing to work with South Africa and other African countries to earnestly implement outcomes from the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), in order to promote win-win cooperation and common development of China and Africa.

Jacob Zuma expressed that South Africa highly appreciates the fruitful achievements from the G20 Hangzhou Summit hosted by China, especially the great attention paid to development issues as well as cooperation between the G20 and developing countries. Committed to deepening its relations with China, South Africa is grateful to China for its support in such areas as infrastructure construction and human resource training. South Africa is ready to strengthen South Africa-China and Africa-China cooperation in all areas within the framework of outcomes from the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit.
