On October 15, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Goa of India with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Nepal.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Nepal are close neighbors linked by mountains and rivers. Since the two countries established diplomatic relations more than half a century ago, China-Nepal relations have withstood the vicissitude of the international situation and always maintained sound and stable development. Attaching great importance to developing relations with Nepal, China is willing to work with Nepal to build a China-Nepal community of common destiny by aligning development strategies and deepening practical cooperation in all fields.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Nepal should strengthen high-level contacts and political communication, continue to render mutual support on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, carry out the consensus the two countries have reached on beefing up cooperation in such areas as connectivity, free trade arrangement and energy, and continue efforts in pushing forward cooperation in pursuit of development. China is ready to continuously assist Nepal in its post-disaster reconstruction and advancing infrastructure, livelihood recovery, historical relic restoration and other projects. China encourages reputable Chinese enterprises to invest in Nepal and take part in the construction of special economic zones and industrial parks in Nepal. China will also strengthen cooperation in agricultural industrialization, water conservancy, hydropower generation and other areas with Nepal. Both sides should launch more extensive people-to-people and cultural exchanges, increase exchanges and cooperation in such areas as tourism, education, culture, youth, media and local affairs, and keep coordination and cooperation within such frameworks as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed that the time-honored Nepal-China friendship is unbreakable. Established on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Nepal-China relationship features mutual respect and trust. Nepal speaks highly of China’s neighborhood diplomacy featuring amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and appreciates China's strong support to its peace process, post-disaster reconstruction and national development. Viewing China as a reliable development partner, Nepal is ready to develop a more comprehensive partnership with China and actively participate in connectivity construction within the frameworks of the “Belt and Road” initiative and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Nepal stands ready to intensify coordination and cooperation with China within international and regional organizations.
