At noon of March 23, 2016, Premier Li Keqiang, together with Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha of Thailand, Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia, Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong of Laos, Vice President Sai Mauk Kham of Myanmar and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh of Viet Nam, jointly visited the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) exhibition.

Li Keqiang greeted leaders of the five countries along the Mekong River at the entrance of the exhibition hall and walked with them together into the hall. More than a dozen Chinese exhibitors set exhibition areas based on such subjects as connectivity, production capacity cooperation, cross-border economic cooperation, water resources cooperation, agriculture and poverty reduction, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and new energy cooperation. They exhibited advanced equipment, technology, designs and product models developed through cooperation with the five countries along the Mekong River. On the exhibition boards, several key words including development, exchange, cooperation and innovation are particularly eye-catching.

Li Keqiang expressed that the nearly 5000-kilometers Lancang-Mekong River surges ahead ceaselessly and nourishes the land on which 326 million people of the sub-region are living. It also links China with the five Mekong River countries through mountains, rivers, humanity, culture and destiny. The LMC, with gathered good timing, geographical convenience and harmonious human relations, naturally came into being, seized the momentum and fell into place. The six countries share a timeless traditional friendship, unanimous development demands and immense prospects for cooperation.

Li Keqiang along with the five state leaders successively visited new energy vehicles, green power equipment, high-speed train models, new building materials, smart electronic appliances, robots, cloud computing devices, hybrid rice specimens and so on. They listened carefully to the introduction given by representatives from all enterprises and asked in detail the information about design details, technical standards, application environments, cooperation progress and others.

Leaders of Mekong River countries visiting the exhibition praised in front of the high-speed train models that such a high-speed train with strong safety performance will greatly shorten the trip running through the national territory.

At the exhibition area of agriculture and poverty reduction cooperation, academician Yuan Longping, known as China's "Father of Hybrid Rice", introduced to the leaders the most advanced varieties of hybrid rice on display and expounded on it combining climate conditions, soil environments and other information that relevant state leaders were concerned about. Seeing that the leaders of Mekong River countries showed a great interest in China's rice variety, Li Keqiang said happily that Chinese hybrid rice should "go out of the country" to help Lancang-Mekong countries become the "world's breadbasket".

At the last exhibition sector, the leaders were fascinated by the lively exchanges conducted by people from Lancang-Mekong countries in culture, art, education, tourism, conservation of historic relics and sites and a wide range of other areas. They expressed that the active picture of people-to-people and cultural exchanges vividly presented the cooperation vision that Lancang-Mekong countries constantly step on new levels on the road of common development with their hand in hand and heart to heart .

The visit was pulled open by new energy, which symbolized that the cooperation among Lancang-Mekong countries is future-oriented and has brilliant prospects. It was wrapped up with people-to-people and cultural exchanges, which indicated that the people-oriented cooperation will yield fruitful results and benefit people in countries of the region.
