Li Keqiang Meets with President Raimonds Vejonis of Latvia

On the afternoon of July 14, 2016 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the hotel where he stayed in Ulaanbaatar with President Raimonds Vejonis of Latvia.

Li Keqiang conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to Raimonds Vejonis. Li Keqiang said that Latvia is China's good friend in the Baltic region and good partner in the European Union (EU). Both sides always respect each other and treat each other as equals. China is ready to, together with Latvia, align development strategies, promote cooperation in such areas as transportation, logistics and infrastructure construction, expand economic and trade cooperation, boost dynamic equilibrium of bilateral trade and conduct close people-to-people and cultural exchanges in youth, media, local affairs, tourism and other areas, so as to push forward the development of the relationship and cooperation between the two countries.

Li Keqiang pointed out that cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) maintains a sound momentum of development and both sides can benefit from this. China supports Latvia in hosting the fifth China-CEEC Meeting of Heads of Government within this year and is willing to work with all sides, including Latvia, to promote "16+1 cooperation" to continuously develop in a deep, solid, steady and further manner.

Raimonds Vejonis expressed that China is Latvia's most important cooperation partner in Asia. Latvia is satisfied with the current development of bilateral relations and hopes to further strengthen cooperation with China in such areas as transportation, logistics, trade, investment, and agriculture. Latvia supports the active development of EU-China as well as CEEC-China relations, and looks forward to Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Latvia and attendance at the "16+1" leaders' meeting within this year.
