On the morning of July 14, 2016 local time, Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Prime Minister Jargaltulga Erdenebat of Mongolia at the Government Palace in Ulaanbaatar.

Li Keqiang first congratulated Jargaltulga Erdenebat on his new appointment. He expressed that China and Mongolia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners. Bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership maintains a sound momentum of development and both sides show mutual respect for each other's core interests and major concerns. China respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Mongolia, respects the development path independently chosen by the Mongolian people, and also appreciates Mongolia's firm adherence to the One-China policy. China looks forward to working with Mongolia's new government to continuously consolidate political mutual trust, maintain high-level exchanges and comprehensively deepen practical cooperation in various fields, thus better benefiting the two peoples.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Mongolia enjoy strong complementarities in economy and face new opportunities in further deepening bilateral cooperation. China stands ready to align its "Silk Road Economic Belt" initiative with Mongolia's "Prairie Road" development strategy and launch the joint feasibility study on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as soon as possible. Both sides should forge new highlights and make new breakthroughs in cooperation in such fields as deep processing of agricultural and livestock products, housing and infrastructure construction. Both countries should also strengthen financial cooperation, expand currency-swap scale, carry out closer people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Jargaltulga Erdenebat welcomed Premier Li Keqiang for his first official visit to Mongolia and attendance at the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit. He stated that the Mongolian side is grateful for China's long-term assistance to its economic and social development. The new government of Mongolia will be committed to maintaining bilateral traditional friendship, and consolidating and developing comprehensive strategic partnership between both countries. Economic and trade cooperation is one of the important pillars of bilateral relations. The Mongolian side is willing to take the docking of development strategies of both countries as an opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation in agriculture and animal husbandry, mineral energy, infrastructure construction and other areas, strengthen bilateral cooperation in port construction, and speed up connectivity. The Mongolian side welcomes investment from Chinese enterprises, and takes a positive attitude toward starting the FTA joint feasibility study at an early date. Mongolia is grateful for China's active support to Mongolia in hosting the ASEM Summit.

After their talks, the Chinese Premier and Mongolian Prime Minister together witnessed the signing of 15 documents for bilateral cooperation in trade, economic technology, infrastructure construction, broadcast television and other areas.

Prior to the talks, Jargaltulga Erdenebat held a grand welcoming ceremony for Li Keqiang at the Chinggis Khaan Square. National flags of China and Mongolia flew high in the Square. When the motorcade of Premier Li Keqiang arrived, honorary guards played welcome music, the cavalry made the horse standstill and saluted, and local children presented flowers. The military band struck up national anthems of China and Mongolia. Accompanied by Jargaltulga Erdenebat, Li Keqiang reviewed honorary guards and greeted them according to Mongolian customs. Honorary guards responded in unison.

On that day, Li Keqiang and Jargaltulga Erdenebat also jointly attended the launching ceremony of a development center for disabled children in Mongolia, which was built with the assistance of China.
