Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia

On the morning of July 15, 2016 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met in Ulaanbaatar with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Cambodia enjoy a long-standing friendship and high-level political mutual trust. On issues related to respective major concerns, both sides uphold justice, stick to righteousness and support each other. China always puts the development of relationship with Cambodia in an important position in its neighboring diplomacy, supports Cambodia to follow a development path conforming to its own national conditions and will continuously and unswervingly promote bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation. The Chinese side is ready to maintain high-level exchanges and strategic communication with Cambodia, deepen practical cooperation in various fields and conduct closer people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to promote bilateral friendly cooperation to achieve more outcomes that benefit the two countries and peoples.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to give full play to the advantages of high political mutual trust and economic complementarity between the two countries, actively boost cooperation in production capacity and investment, deepen cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, intensive processing of agricultural products, water conservancy and infrastructure construction and focus on improving Cambodian people's livelihood. China also stands ready to enhance cooperation with Cambodia in culture, tourism, education and other fields, encourage more Chinese tourists to travel to Cambodia, and enhance friendly exchanges between the two peoples, especially between both youths, so as to pass down China-Cambodia friendship from generation to generation.

Hun Sen expressed that both Cambodia and China are good friends sharing sincere treatment with each other and good partners of comprehensive strategic cooperation. Cambodia puts the development of relationship with China in a prior position of foreign policy and is willing to fully push forward bilateral friendly cooperation.

When talking about the South China Sea issue, Li Keqiang expressed that on the so-called South China Sea arbitration case unilaterally initiated by the Philippines, Cambodia takes an objective and impartial stance and speaks out for justice, defending the real international rule of law and regional rules and order as well as playing an irreplaceable role in safeguarding the overall situation of China-ASEAN relations and regional peace and stability. China will continuously commit itself to resolving disputes through negotiation and consultation with countries directly concerned, and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability as well as freedom of navigation in the South China Sea region in collaboration with ASEAN countries.

Hun Sen noted that Cambodia will continue to adhere to its objective and just stance and support countries directly concerned to resolve specific disputes through dialogue and consultation. The country is willing to work with all parties to focus on safeguarding the overall situation of friendly cooperation between the ASEAN and China.
