On the morning of July 16, 2016 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with President U Htin Kyaw of Myanmar in Ulaanbaatar.

Li Keqiang first conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to U Htin Kyaw. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar 66 years ago, the two countries have jointly proposed the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and continuously deepened good neighborliness and friendship on this basis. The Chinese side respects Myanmar's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supports Myanmar people's independent choice of a development path in line with the national conditions. China stands ready to work with the new government of Myanmar to well grasp the general direction of bilateral relations and push for sound and stable development of China-Myanmar relations on a long-term basis. It is hoped that by increasing high-level exchanges and enhancing political mutual trust, the two countries can plan for the development of China-Myanmar relations in the new period.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and Myanmar are highly complementary in economy and share great potential in cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to align development strategies with Myanmar, strengthen bilateral cooperation in such fields as infrastructure construction, education, health care, and water conservancy, and support Myanmar's economic development and livelihood improvement, so as to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

U Htin Kyaw expressed that Myanmar and China have been upholding the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence for a long time, and bilateral relations have been progressing continuously. The new government of Myanmar attaches great importance to developing relations with China and stands ready to continue to maintain high-level exchanges. Myanmar is truly delighted for China's achievements in economic and social development, and is grateful for China's support and assistance over the years. It is hoped that the Chinese side can further expand investment in Myanmar to help improve people's livelihood and bring benefits to the Myanmar people.
