Xi Jinping Meets with President of the Senate of the Parliament Milan Stech of the Czech Republic

On March 29, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Prague with President of the Senate of the Parliament Milan Stech of the Czech Republic.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and the Czech Republic enjoy a traditional friendship. Since the two countries established diplomatic relations, friendship and cooperation have always been the main theme of bilateral relations, and the friendship between both peoples has been increasingly consolidated and strengthened through mutual communication. China stands ready to work with the Czech side to conduct closer high-level exchanges, enhance the alignment of strategies of both sides, give full play to advantage complementarities, deepen cooperation in various areas such as economy and trade, industry, tourism, culture and sports, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to achieve greater development in bilateral relations at the new period from the new starting point of strategic partnership.

Xi Jinping pointed out that exchanges between both legislatures are important components of the China-Czech relations, and the strong support and active participation of the two countries' legislative bodies are indispensable to the in-depth development of bilateral relations. Legislatures of the two countries need to improve and expand current exchange mechanisms, conduct closer friendly exchanges at various levels, enhance experience exchanges in such fields as legislation, supervision and state affairs governance, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation in economy and trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other fields so as to make greater contributions to the consolidation of public opinion foundation and promotion of the development of the China-Czech relations.

Milan Stech expressed that China's achievement in economic and social development is admirable and the two countries enjoy enormous potential in cooperation. President Xi Jinping's state visit to the Czech Republic this time will lift bilateral relations and promote further development of cooperation in economy and trade, tourism, culture and other areas. The Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic is willing to have close exchanges with China's relevant institutions to improve mutual understanding and jointly contribute to the deepening of Czech-China relations.
