On the afternoon of March 29, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met with Mayor of Prague Adriana Krnacova in Prague, and received the Key to the City of Prague presented by Adriana Krnacova on behalf of the city.

Xi Jinping pointed out that receiving the Key to the City of Prague shows the profound friendship the people of the Czech Republic and the people in Prague hold towards China. Prague is a famous historical city in Europe, and the whole city is the first one in the world listed as a world heritage site. With the splendid scenery, profound culture and friendly people in Prague, the Key will remind me of the wonderful memories of Prague.

Xi Jinping stressed that local exchanges are an important part of the comprehensive development of China-Czech relations. Beijing maintains close exchanges with Prague. It is believed that fueled by closer cooperation between the two capitals, exchanges at the local level between the two countries will make greater breakthroughs. The China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European countries) Association of Governors of Provinces and Regions has been established in the Czech Republic. It is hoped that Prague will bring into full play to its own advantages and the function of the platform of the China-CEEC Association of Governors of Provinces and Regions to expand the channel of communication and fields of cooperation with China, and make new contributions to the friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Adriana Krnacova said that the rapid development of the local cooperation between the two countries significantly contributes to the development of bilateral relations. She is pleased that President Xi Jinping witnessed the establishment of sister-city relations between Prague and Beijing during his visit to the Czech Republic. Prague is full of confidence in the mutually beneficial cooperation with its sister city in China.
