Xi Jinping Leaves for the US to Attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit after Concluding State Visit to the Czech Republic

On March 30, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping successfully concluded his three-day state visit to the Czech Republic, and left Prague for Washington, D.C., capital of the US by special plane to attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit.

President Xi Jinping arrived in Prague on the afternoon of March 28, 2016 local time. During the state visit to the Czech Republic, President Xi Jinping held talks with President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic, and met respectively with the Czech leaders including President of the Senate of the Parliament Milan Stech, Chairman of Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament Jan Hamacek and Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. The two sides had in-depth exchanges of views and reached broad consensus on bilateral relations, China-EU relations, cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, and international and regional issues of common concern.

President Xi Jinping and President Milos Zeman agreed to lift the bilateral relations to strategic partnership and promote the bilateral relations to another new stage. During President Xi Jinping's visit, the two countries signed the Joint Statement on Establishing Strategic Partnership between the People's Republic of China and the Czech Republic, and cooperation documents in such fields as e-commerce, investment, science and technology, tourism, culture and aviation.

Before leaving for Washington, D.C., President Xi Jinping and President Milos Zeman attended the China-Czech Economic and Trade Cooperation Roundtable on the morning of March 30. Afterwards, in the company of President Milos Zeman, President Xi Jinping visited the Strahov Library. The two heads of state bade farewell in a friendly atmosphere.

After the state visit to the Czech Republic, President Xi Jinping will attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington, D.C. of the US from March 31 to April 1. President Xi Jinping will also deliver a keynote speech at the plenary session, comprehensively expounding China's policy and proposals, introducing China's new measures and achievements in the area of nuclear security and putting forward practical proposals on strengthening global nuclear security.

During the summit, President Xi Jinping will meet with President Barack Obama of the US. It will be the first meeting between both head of states this year, which will exert great significance in continuously promoting bilateral relations in a stable and forward way. President Xi Jinping will also hold several bilateral meetings with leaders of relevant countries to exchange views on bilateral relations, international and regional issues of common concern as well as other topics.
