Xi Jinping Visits Strahov Library with President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic and Bids Farewell with Him

On March 30, 2016 local time, accompanied by President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic, President Xi Jinping visited the Strahov Library in Prague.

When Xi Jinping arrived at the library, Milos Zeman welcomed him at the gate of the chapter house and then accompanied him in the visit. The curator introduced to Xi Jinping the collections on China-Czech exchanges. Afterwards, the two heads of state stepped onto the veranda to have a bird's eye view of Prague.

Xi Jinping expressed that it is a rare experience to see such rich arts and cultural treasures. The long history and bountiful cultural heritage are the precious wealth of the Czech people. China is an ancient civilization with a history of more than 5,000 years. There is great potential for both nations to conduct mutual learning between the two civilizations and cultural exchanges. The two countries should enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as improve mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, so as to lay a firm foundation of public opinion for the development of bilateral relations.

After the visit, Xi Jinping bade friendly farewells to Milos Zeman.

Xi Jinping pointed out that during my visit to the Czech Republic this time, I felt the friendship of the country and its people. During my visit, I had in-depth and friendly exchange of views with President Milos Zeman many times, which have paved the way for the further development of bilateral relations. China is willing to keep high-level contacts with the Czech Republic, enhance strategic mutual trust and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields so as to write a new chapter for China-Czech relations.

Milos Zeman congratulated President Xi Jinping on the full success of his historic visit to the Czech Republic, and expressed that the Czech Republic attaches great emphasis to Czech-China relations and is willing to promote practical cooperation with China to benefit the two countries and their peoples.

As the oldest library in the Czech Republic, the Strahov Library has a history of over 850 years and a collection of more than 200,000 valuable books.
