Xi Jinping and President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic Jointly Attend China-Czech Economic and Trade Cooperation Roundtable

On March 30, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping and President Milos Zeman of the Czech Republic attended together the China-Czech Economic and Trade Cooperation Roundtable in Prague. Xi Jinping delivered an important speech titled "Carry forward Friendship, Forge ahead into the Future and Usher into a New Era of China-Czech Economic and Trade Cooperation", stressing that China-Czech economic and trade cooperation has a broad base of overlapping interests, and the two sides should enhance coordination and cooperation, strengthen the docking of their advantages, innovate the cooperation model and give full play to their comparative advantages, so as to promote the development of China-Czech economic and trade cooperation.

Xi Jinping pointed out that both China and the Czech Republic boast a long history and enjoy profound traditional friendship, and the in-depth exchanges of years are bringing our hearts closer and closer. The peoples of both our countries love peace and pursue win-win cooperation, which serves as a solid foundation for the rapid development of bilateral practical cooperation in economy and trade. In the context of slowdown in global trade growth, the China-Czech trade maintains positive growth, two-way investment continues expanding, and investment cooperation covers various areas such as manufacturing, energy, finance and culture. Thanks to the joint efforts of Chinese and Czech enterprises, bilateral cooperation is accelerating with more solid steps and has provided broad space for further cooperation between enterprises of the two countries. It is hoped that present entrepreneurs will seize the opportunities and take active actions to promote the healthy and constant development of China-Czech practical cooperation.

Xi Jinping stressed that at present the world economy is still undergoing profound adjustment in a complicated and changing situation. China's economic development has entered into a new normal, with its sound fundamentals and long-term trajectory remaining unchanged. China remains and will continue to be an important driving force for global economic growth, and China's stability and development is a great contribution to the world. The "Belt and Road" initiative proposed by China is in line with the themes of the times, namely, peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit. The Czech Republic is an important country along the Silk Road Economic Belt, and the two countries face great opportunities for development.

China and the Czech Republic should foster a sense of community of common destiny, strengthen coordination and cooperation in international, regional and bilateral issues, jointly cope with global economic challenges and achieve common development through cooperation. We should further synergize advantages and take economic and trade cooperation as an important basis to promote the cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries within the cooperation framework, and share the fruits of cooperation. Both sides should explore innovations in economic and trade cooperation as well as in business models, strengthen cooperation in areas such as finance, Internet economy, new energy and tourism, support enterprises of the two countries to jointly build industrial and science and technology parks, and cultivate new growth points for economic and trade development. We should give play to our comparative advantages, conduct international cooperation in production capacity, and realize the effective synergy of the "Made in China 2025" strategy and the "Czech Industry 4.0" strategy.

Xi Jinping stressed that China-Czech economic and trade cooperation has many overlapping interests, which will benefit both peoples. It is believed that with the joint efforts of the two governments and business circles, China and the Czech Republic will surely usher into a new era of cooperation and create a brighter future.

Milos Zeman said in his speech that President Xi Jinping's state visit to the Czech Republic is of great historic significance and will greatly promote the long-term development of bilateral relations. The two sides are conducing fruitful cooperation in a wider range of areas. The Czech Republic welcomes Chinese enterprises to increase investment in the country and promote mutually beneficial cooperation. The Czech government stands ready to provide strong support to the cooperation between industrial and business circles of the two countries and bilateral economic and trade relations.

The two heads of state witnessed together the signing of a host of cooperation documents between enterprises of the two countries.
