On June 20, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping held talks in Warsaw with President Andrzej Duda of Poland. Speaking highly of China-Poland traditional friendship and the development of bilateral relations, the two heads of state agreed to lift bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership and strengthen communication and cooperation, so as to bring tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Poland is one of the first countries that recognized and established diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China and the two peoples enjoy long-standing friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 67 years ago, China-Poland relations have continuously moved forward. Especially since the establishment of strategic partnership between the two countries, both sides have conducted frequent high-level exchanges, yielded fruitful results from economic and trade cooperation and enjoyed increasing people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Treasuring its traditional friendship with Poland, China is willing to advance the continuous, healthy and in-depth development of bilateral relations with Poland. Both sides should enhance mutual trust, grasp the political direction of the development of bilateral relations, integrate development strategies, and transform political mutual trust into sustainable achievements of practical cooperation. It is hoped that cooperation projects, represented by the China-Europe freight train, can play a leading role in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and enhance bilateral cooperation in connectivity as well as production capacity. The two countries need to deepen cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, finance, agriculture and high-tech industries, and enrich the connotation of bilateral relations. China and Poland should also consolidate friendship, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation in an all-round manner, and take further measures to facilitate personnel exchanges.

Andrzej Duda expressed warm welcome to President Xi Jinping's visit. Both sides conduct close high-level exchanges and enjoy good political mutual trust as well as traditional friendship. Poland admires what China has accomplished in development and stands ready to deepen its cooperation with China in various areas including economy, trade, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges through cooperative platforms such as cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries, the "Belt and Road" initiative as well as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank under the framework of Poland-China comprehensive strategic partnership, making Poland a portal to Europe for China. Poland is willing to jointly support China in hosting a successful 18th EU-China Leaders' Meeting with EU countries.

Reaching several important consensus, the two heads of state agreed to establish China-Poland comprehensive strategic partnership and deepen practical cooperation in various fields, so as to let the two peoples truly share the tangible benefits from the growth of bilateral relations.

Both sides agreed to respect and trust each other, treat each other as equals, practically understand each other's interests and major concerns, strengthen high-level exchanges, and expand communication between legislative and governmental institutions, political parties and regions. The two countries will give full play to inter-governmental communication and cooperation mechanisms, and enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs and multilateral organizations such as the United Nations and the Asia-Europe Meeting.

The two sides agreed to reinforce integration of their respective development strategies and build a community of shared interests featuring mutual benefit and win-win results. Both countries should promote the construction of the "Belt and Road", and launch at an early date major cooperation projects with exemplary significance for early harvest. The two sides will advance China-Poland connectivity and production capacity cooperation and expand cooperation areas and results between both countries. Both sides need to encourage companies to increase mutual investment and expand cooperation in such areas as agriculture, finance, telecommunication, environmental protection, high-tech, aviation and new energy.

The two sides agreed to comprehensively push forward people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen cultural and educational communication and enhance cooperation in tourism. They also agreed to strive for more tangible achievements in cooperation at local level and strengthen communication and mutual learning in sports, so as to build a solid social basis for the long-term and stable development of bilateral relations.

Both sides agreed to integrate cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European countries with EU’s major initiatives, promote the development of China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership, support to comprehensively implement the China-EU 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation and boost the construction of four major China-EU partnerships featuring peace, growth, reform and civilization. It is hoped that both China and the EU can make joint efforts to push for positive results from the G20 Hangzhou Summit to be held this coming September.

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly signed the Joint Statement on Establishing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Poland, and witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Drafting Cooperation Guidelines between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Poland, and bilateral cooperation documents in such areas as information connectivity, infrastructure construction, production capacity, education, culture, taxation, quality control, customs and aviation.
