Xi Jinping Meets with Marshal of the Senate Stanislaw Karczewski and Marshal of the Sejm Marek Kuchcinski of Poland

On June 20, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met with Marshal of the Senate Stanislaw Karczewski and Marshal of the Sejm Marek Kuchcinski of Poland at the Palace on the Isle in Warsaw.

Xi Jinping pointed out that since China and Poland established diplomatic relations, peoples of both countries have been sympathizing with, supporting and learning from each other and our traditional friendship has been carried forward. Poland has become an important cooperative partner of China in the European Union (EU) and Central and Eastern European region. This morning, I have reached broad consensus with President Andrzej Duda on deepening China-Poland cooperation. We have agreed to lift China-Poland relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Both sides should strengthen cooperation in education, tourism and local affairs, intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, exploit the potential of both countries to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly write a new chapter of China-Poland friendship.

Xi Jinping pointed out that as an important part of bilateral relations, friendly exchanges between both legislative bodies are also an important channel for both peoples to enhance friendship, exchanges and mutual learning. In recent years, the National People's Congress has launched close exchanges and cooperation with the Senate and Sejm of Poland, achieving positive results. Legislative bodies of both countries should maintain contact, and carry out exchanges and cooperation at various levels, through various channels and in various forms, so as to push for greater development of China-Poland comprehensive strategic partnership.

Stanislaw Karczewski and Marek Kuchcinski welcomed President Xi Jinping's visit to Poland. They expressed that the Senate and Sejm of Poland attach great importance to the development of Poland-China relations. They are willing to enhance exchanges with the legislative body of China and vigorously promote bilateral cooperation in economy, culture, local affairs, tourism and other areas, so as to bring bilateral relations to a new stage and benefit both countries as well as their peoples.

Before the meeting, Xi Jinping, accompanied by Stanislaw Karczewski and Marek Kuchcinski, reviewed the guard of honor at the square in front of the Palace on the Isle.
