President Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Beata Szydło of Poland

On June 20, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Beata Szydło of Poland in Warsaw.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Poland enjoy long-standing friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, bilateral relations have maintained steady development and displayed full vitality especially in recent years. President Andrzej Duda and I have announced to lift China-Poland relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two sides will work together to enrich and expand practical cooperation and bring bilateral relations to a new high. The two sides will strengthen cooperation in areas such as transportation, logistics and customs, establish a logistics center connecting Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, promote deeper participation of Poland in the "Belt and Road" construction by taking advantage of China-Europe freight trains, and enhance connectivity construction between China and Poland as well as other CEE countries. China is willing to actively participate in the transformation of railway lines, port construction, industrial parks and other projects in Poland, so as to promote bilateral cooperation in production capacity. In the principle of mutual benefit and win-win results, the two sides should expand the scale of bilateral trade, and encourage enterprises to increase mutual investment as well as expend financial cooperation. The two sides should deepen local cooperation, further exchanges between think-tanks, universities, and scholars as well as cooperation in tourism, strengthen mutual learning in winter sports and other sport fields, and push for more achievements from China-Poland people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China appreciates Poland's contribution to China-CEE cooperation, and stands ready to work with CEE countries, including Poland, to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, energy as well as finance, build a lasting and practical China-CEE cooperation, and turn this mechanism into an important interface for the integration of the "Belt and Road" initiative into the European economic circle.

Beata Szydło said that the Polish government attaches great importance to President Xi Jinping's visit to Poland, and is willing to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China in areas such as economy and trade, investment, agriculture, transportation and infrastructure. Poland favors and actively participates in the "Belt and Road" cooperation, holding that it conforms to the common interests of both countries and their respective regions.
