Xi Jinping Arrives in Warsaw for State Visit to the Republic of Poland

On June 19, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Warsaw, starting his state visit to the Republic of Poland.

Poland sent fighter jets to escort Xi Jinping's special plane when it entered the country's airspace. At around 5:25 p.m. local time, the plane arrived at Warsaw-Okecie Airport. Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan were warmly greeted by Foreign Minister Witold Waszczkowski and Chief of the Chancellery of the President Malgorzata Sadurska of Poland when they stepped out of the cabin door. Honorary guards lined up on both sides of the red carpet.

Xi Jinping extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the Polish people. Xi Jinping pointed out that Poland is among the first countries to recognize and establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. The two countries have always treated each other with respect and equality since the establishment of the diplomatic relations 67 years ago. In recent years, the two countries have established strategic partnership, carried out vigorous cooperation in various fields and launched sound cooperation within frameworks of cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries and China-EU relations. China attaches importance to the relationship with Poland and hopes to consolidate traditional friendship, expand cooperation in all fields and lift bilateral relations to a new height.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Xu Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Poland also greeted them at the airport.

Xi Jinping arrived in Poland after concluding the state visit to Serbia. When leaving Serbia, President Tomislav Nikolic and his wife Dragica Nikolic, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia as well as others saw him off at the airport.

Poland is the second stop of Xi Jinping's visits. Xi Jinping will also pay a state visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan and attend the 16th Meeting of Heads of State Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Tashkent.
