On June 23, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Tashkent with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India.

Xi Jinping pointed out that at present, China-India strategic and cooperative partnership is rapidly developing along the course jointly charted by me and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to China last month, he and I further reached important consensus on the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to jointly seize the general orientation of China-India relations with India. The common interests between both countries are far beyond existing specific differences. Both sides should deepen practical cooperation, and enhance cooperation in such areas as trade, railway, industrial zone, energy, electricity, information technology and energy conservation as well as environment protection. China welcomes Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the G20 Hangzhou Summit in this September, and I look forward to attending BRICS Leaders' Meeting in India this October.

Xi Jinping congratulated India on signing the memorandum of obligation to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) during the SCO summit this time, and expressed that China looks forward to enhancing cooperation with India within the SCO framework.

Narendra Modi expressed that India and China enjoy traditional friendship. In recent years, bilateral relations enjoy a sound momentum of development and the important consensus reached by both leaders is being implemented. India is willing to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields with China, conduct close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs and properly handle relevant issues between the two countries. India also appreciates China's support for its membership of the SCO.
