Xi Jinping Meets with President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan

On June 24, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Tashkent with President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan.

Xi Jinping stressed that since the establishment of China-Kazakhstan comprehensive strategic partnership 5 years ago, bilateral cooperation has been showing a momentum of rapid development with fruitful results. The two countries have become a true community of shared interests and shared destiny. China is willing to work with Kazakhstan to promote bilateral cooperation towards a higher level. The two sides should maintain close high-level exchanges, support and cooperate with each other on major issues of respective concern, and always plan cooperation from a strategic height and long-term perspective. Both countries should well compile the docking plan of the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt with the new economic policy of the Bright Road, fully use the new model of production capacity cooperation jointly opened by China and Kazakhstan, advance the implementation of related cooperation projects in production capacity at an early date, and boost cooperation in such areas as agriculture, energy, local affairs, people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as environmental protection. China supports Kazakhstan to host a successful "Chinese Tourism Year" next year.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China is willing to enhance cooperation in multilateral fields including the United Nations with Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan will take over the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) after the Tashkent Summit. China will strongly support and cooperate with Kazakhstan, so as to jointly promote new and greater development of the SCO.

Nursultan Nazarbayev firstly offered warm congratulation to the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Communist Party of China. Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed that it is a priority of Kazakhstan's diplomacy to develop good-neighbourliness, mutual trust and friendship with China. Kazakhstan firmly supports China's Silk Road Economic Belt initiative, and agrees to accelerate the docking of the initiative with the "Bright Road" new economic policy. Kazakhstan is ready to launch cooperation projects in production capacity including automobiles and chemical engineering at an early date, and strengthen cooperation in such areas as trade, agriculture, logistics, infrastructure and tourism. Kazakhstan is ready to make joint effort with China to ensure the healthy development of the SCO.
