Xi Jinping Meets with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus

On June 24, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Tashkent with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus.

Xi Jinping pointed out that I paid a successful state visit to Belarus last year, and President Alexander Lukashenko attended in Beijing the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression as well as the World Anti-fascist War. We made comprehensive planning and arrangements for developing and deepening China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership. At present, China-Belarus relations enjoy rapid development and bilateral cooperation in various fields is advancing in an all-round manner. The two sides also render firm support to each other on issues concerning respective core interests.

Xi Jinping stressed that both sides should well implement the important consensus reached by both leaders and steadily promote agreed major cooperation projects. Both sides should dovetail development strategies and enhance planning and coordination on cooperation. Both sides should focus on the China-Belarus Industrial Park project, and deepen major project cooperation, so as to drive up the comprehensive development of bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, finance and local affairs, and push forward the construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative. The two countries should enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and maintain the development momentum in bilateral relations and cooperation in various areas.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed that Belarus will be a reliable friend of China forever and he is happy to see that both sides have rendered support to each other on issues concerning respective major concerns. Belarus stands ready to closely cooperate with China on economy and trade, local affairs and high technology, actively participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, and build Belarus-China Industrial Park into a landmark project of the "Belt and Road" initiative. Belarus is ready to enhance cooperation with China within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
