Xi Jinping Meets with President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan

On June 24, 2016 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Tashkent with President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan.

Xi Jinping pointed out that since the two countries established strategic partnership 3 years ago, China and Kyrgyzstan have constantly deepened political mutual trust, achieved fruitful results from practical cooperation in various areas, and maintained close communication and mutual support in international and regional affairs. The Chinese side is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, so as to achieve common development and prosperity. China firmly supports Kyrgyzstan in choosing a development path that suits its own national conditions, and its efforts in safeguarding national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Xi Jinping stressed that the two sides should speed up the drafting of a route map on the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, enhance cooperation in production capacity, agriculture as well as other areas, give play to the advantage of strong economic complementarity between both countries, and maintain the sound momentum of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The two countries need to accelerate the process of projects such as China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railways, renovation on thermal power plant and urban road networks in Bishkek, and agricultural irrigation system transformation, so as to let China-Kyrgyzstan cooperation results benefit the Kyrgyz people as early as possible.

Almazbek Atambayev expressed that Kyrgyzstan and China are like brothers and there is no obstacle between the two countries' friendship. Kyrgyzstan firmly supports China's principles and stance on the Taiwan issue, Xijiang-related issues and other issues concerning China's core concerns. Kyrgyzstan welcomes China to actively participate in its infrastructure construction, and hopes to increase security cooperation with China to resolutely crack down on the "three evil forces".

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the meeting.
