On the afternoon of May 31, 2017 local time, at the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, Premier Li Keqiang arrived at Berlin Tegel Airport by special plane, starting his official visit to Germany and holding the Annual China-Germany Prime Ministers' Meeting.

When Li Keqiang walked out of the cabin door, he was warmly greeted by senior officials of the German government and H.E. Shi Mingde, Chinese Ambassador to Germany. The honor guard lined up on both sides of the red carpet to welcome Li Keqiang.

Li Keqiang expressed that since the establishment of China-Germany diplomatic relations 45 years ago, bilateral relations have enjoyed steady development. Under the current background of the sluggish world economic recovery, and the rising trend of anti-globalization and protectionism, it is of more prominent significance for both sides to enhance communication and cooperation. My visit this time is to consolidate and develop the friendship between both countries, and to innovate and uplift bilateral cooperation. The Chinese side expects to, together with Germany, continuously uphold the spirit of mutual respect and equal treatment, elevate bilateral relations and cooperation to a new stage, bring tangible benefits to the two peoples, and assist the stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.

During the visit, Li Keqiang will hold several meetings with Angela Merkel, witness the signing of bilateral cooperation documents, jointly meet the press, jointly attend and address "China-Germany Forum---Co-shape Innovation" and interact with the business communities of both countries. Li Keqiang will also meet with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany.
