Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany: Germany Supports EU in Fulfilling the Obligations in Article 15 of Protocol on China's Accession to the WTO

On the morning of June 1, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany jointly met the press.

Li Keqiang expressed that Germany is an important cooperation partner of China in the EU. The two countries enjoy frequent high-level exchanges and increasing trade, investment and personnel exchanges. Facing the increasing uncertain and unstable factors in current world, both China and Germany advocate to uphold multilateralism, maintain the existing international system, observe norms of international relations and the consensus reached by various countries including the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and support trade and investment liberalization and facilitation.

Angela Merkel said that both Germany and China approve the international trade on the basis of the rules and support WTO principles and regulations. During Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Germany, she discussed the topic of the Article 15 of the Protocol on China's Accession to the WTO with him. In the view of Germany, the EU should fulfill the obligations, and make efforts to seek solutions in line with WTO rules, and with equal treatment to all countries and non-discriminatory to China. It is expected that positive progress could be made in EU-China bilateral investment agreement negotiation.

Li Keqiang praised Angela Merkel's support for the EU's implementation of the obligations under Article 15 of the Protocol on China's Accession to the WTO.
