On the morning of June 1, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany jointly met the press.

Chinese Premier and German Chancellor introduced the achievements of the annual China-Germany Prime Ministers' Meeting. Li Keqiang stressed that the stable and mature China-Germany relations will inject positive power of stability, cooperation and development to the world with growing uncertainties. China is willing to work with Germany to send positive signals to the world that the two countries will maintain the trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, actively promote economic globalization and resolve issues in a proper way, so as to make endeavor for the progression of mankind.

In response to question on the climate change issue, Li Keqiang said combating climate change is a global voice and consensus. China has always actively participated in promoting and the signing of the Paris Agreement, and was also one of the first countries to recognize the Paris Agreement through the legislative process as well as the first ones to submit the file of national plan on dealing with climate change to the United Nations. As a big developing country, it is not only the international responsibility China should shoulder but also the interior demand for China in the transformation of development mode. The Chinese side will continue to fulfill its commitments of taking the green, low carbon and sustainable development road and earnestly moving toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with all the countries.

When it comes to the negotiation on China-EU investment agreement, Li Keqiang expressed that accelerating the China-EU investment agreement benefits the two-way opening-up and equality between the Chinese and EU markets, and is beneficial for the improvement of the mutual trade and investment scales of the two sides. As major trade partners for each other, it is necessary for China and the EU to discuss the feasibility of the establishment of free trade zone. As China opens its door wider to the world, more market opportunities will be provided and mutual benefits and win-win outcomes will be achieved.

Angela Merkel said that China is becoming an increasingly important partner to Germany since the two countries established diplomatic relationship 45 years ago, with closer communications in politics, economy and trade as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Bilateral cooperation in various fields such as aerospace, aviation, automobile, recycling economy, scientific research and intelligent manufacturing are also continuously strengthened. In face of increasing uncertainties in the world, Germany and China have the responsibility to enhance strategic partnership, and intensify bilateral cooperation. Germany is willing to work with China to make joint contributions to building an open global economy as well as maintaining free trade.

Premier Li Keqiang and Chancellor Angela Merkel also answered questions on the international and regional hotspot issues.

On the morning of the same day Li Keqiang and Angela Merkel held a meeting again, and exchanged views over issues of common concerns, reaching broad consensus.

Before the joint conference, Li Keqiang and Angela Merkel also witnessed the signing of more than 10 cooperation documents between both countries in the fields of economy, trade, new-energy vehicles, trilateral cooperation, finance and artificial intelligence.
