Li Keqiang Meets with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany

On the afternoon of June 1, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Presidential Palace in Berlin with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany.

Li Keqiang firstly conveyed warm greetings from President Xi Jinping to Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and expressed that the close high-level exchanges between both countries have effectively boosted the development of bilateral relations. At present, uncertainties and unstable factors in international political and economic situation are growing, while at the same time the general trend of peace, development and cooperation as well as the tide of economic globalization is irresistible. During my visit, China and Germany reached important consensus on safeguarding world peace and multilateralism as well as supporting trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, which is in itself a signal of stability to the world.

Li Keqiang reiterated China's principled stance on dealing with climate change as well as international and regional hotspot issues, and said that China is willing to, together with Germany, enhance cooperation in various fields and cope with challenges together, in a bid to jointly promote peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world. China supports Germany in hosting a successful G20 Hamburg Summit as the presidency this year, and promoting all parties to build consensus, so as to make new contributions to improving global economic governance.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier welcomed Li Keqiang's visit to Germany and spoke positively of the outcomes of the trip. He expressed that it is important for Germany and China to enhance high-level exchanges against the backdrop of a volatile international situation. Supporting an open global trade system, Germany appreciates China's responsible stance on dealing with climate change issues, and is ready to deepen communication and cooperation with China in economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen cooperation in the G20 affairs for a better development of Germany-China partnership.
