Xi Jinping Arrives in Moscow, Starting State Visit to Russian Federation

On July 3, 2017 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow by special plane, starting his state visit to the Russian Federation.

At around 2:30 p.m. local time, Xi Jinping's special plane arrived at Moscow Vnukovo Airport. When Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan walked out of the cabin door, they were warmly welcomed by senior officials of the Russian government.

Xi Jinping attended the welcoming ceremony held at the airport. The military band played national anthems of China and Russia. Xi Jinping reviewed the guard of honor and watched the march-past.

Xi Jinping, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the Russian government and people. Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Russia are good neighbors, good friends and good partners, and the traditional friendship between the two peoples enjoys a long-standing history. At present, China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination is at the best period in history. Both sides firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, and actively carry out the integration of development strategies of the two countries as well as the alignment between the "Belt and Road" construction and the Eurasian Economic Union. Facing the complex and uncertain international situation, China and Russia play their roles and shoulder their due responsibilities as major countries, setting an example of the new type of international relations with win-win cooperation as the core and contributing strong positive energies to safeguarding regional and world peace and stability.

Xi Jinping stressed that this is the sixth time that I came to Russia after the assumption of President. I look forward to exchanging in-depth views with President Vladimir Putin on deepening bilateral relations, promoting bilateral cooperation in various fields and on major international and regional issues of common concern, and conducting extensive contacts and communication with friendly personnel from all walks of life of both countries. It is believed that this visit will push forward China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for constant and forward-looking development.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Li Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Russia also greeted President Xi Jinping at the airport.

After his state visit to Russia, Xi Jinping will also pay a state visit to Germany and attend the 12th G20 Summit in Hamburg.
