Li Keqiang Meets with Leader of the Labor Party Bill Shorten of Australia

On the afternoon of March 23, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Parliament House in Canberra with Leader of the Labor Party Bill Shorten of Australia.

Li Keqiang expressed that China-Australia mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields has brought well-being to the two peoples, promoting prosperity and stability of the Asia-Pacific region. The Chinese side is glad to see that the development of China-Australia relations could gain support from all political parties in Australia and maintain a correct direction. Standing on a new starting point of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Chinese side is willing to continuously coordinate and cooperate with all political parties and all circles in Australia to uplift bilateral relations to a new level. It is hoped that the Labor Party could continuously make contributions to promoting the development of bilateral relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that located in the Asia-Pacific region, both China and Australia share extensive common interests. China is ready to make joint efforts with Australia to safeguard peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, so as to boost common prosperity and development.

Bill Shorten expressed that, Premier Li Keqiang's speech at the formal welcome luncheon held by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull sends positive information that the Chinese side devotes itself to safeguarding regional and world peace and stability, promoting free trade and enhancing friendship between the two peoples. The Labor Party of Australia appreciated China's important role in dealing with global challenges, and attached high importance to its relations and cooperation with China. The Labor party stands ready to make continuous efforts to advance the development of Australia-China relations.
