Xi Jinping Meets with President Vladimir Putin of Russia

On November 10, 2017 local time, President Xi Jinping met with President Vladimir Putin of Russia in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Mr. President and I met many times, which leads the steady and long-term development for China-Russia relations at a high level, and achieves gratifying results. China and Russia have firmly supported each other in safeguarding their core national interests, and further strengthened political mutual trust, and the two countries are strategic partners that have truly placed trust in each other. Both countries have created good results again in practical cooperation, enjoyed booming people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and conducted close and effective coordination in international affairs. The comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination established and developed by China and Russia has set an example for a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice, and win-win cooperation. China is willing to join hands with Russia to firmly boost high-level development of bilateral relations so as to better promote respective national security and development, and safeguard regional and global peace and stability.

Xi Jinping stressed that at present, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era while Russia has also been walking in steady steps toward a stronger and wealthier country. China-Russia relations have also ushered in new development opportunities while we are at the critical stage for our own development. Both sides should continuously enhance mutual support, strengthen all-round cooperation, advance the scale and quality of bilateral trade at the same time, well implement major projects in such fields as energy, investment, high-tech, aviation and aerospace, as well as infrastructure, push for concrete results from the alignment of the construction of the "Belt and Road" with the Eurasian Economic Union, and well plan and implement new activities for national theme year. Both sides need to strengthen communication on international and regional hotspot issues, and cement coordination and cooperation within multilateral frameworks including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is the most important economic cooperation mechanism in Asia-Pacific region. China is willing to, together with Russia, enhance communication and coordination within the APEC, push the construction of the Asia-Pacific free trade zone, connectivity and reform and innovation for new progress, and speed up the building of an open economy.

Xi Jinping briefed Vladimir Putin on related situation of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and stressed that the goal of China's diplomacy is to promote the building of a new type of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice and win-win cooperation, and of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Vladimir Putin extended congratulations on the successful conclusion of the 19th CPC National Congress, and Xi Jinping's re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. He expressed that the important results of the 19th CPC National Congress proved that China's domestic and foreign policies under President Xi Jinping's leadership have won broad support from the Chinese people. Russia always makes the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination a privileged direction of its foreign policy. Vladimir Putin is pleased that President Xi Jinping's successful visit to Russia this summer has pushed forward bilateral relations in various fields for positive progress. Both sides should well implement important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and him, intensify high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, aviation manufacturing, aerospace, and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Russia is ready to enhance cooperation in international affairs with China, and conduct close communication and coordination in multilateral organizations such as APEC, and boost the construction of Asia-Pacific free trade zone.

Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin also exchanged in-depth views on issues of common concern, including the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
