On November 12, 2017 local time, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping attended the grand welcome banquet held by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang of Vietnam at the Hanoi International Convention Center.

At about 7:30 p.m. local time, Xi Jinping and Nguyen Phu Trong arrived at the banquet hall together. They were warmly welcomed by Tran Dai Quang. The band played the national anthems of the two countries.

Nguyen Phu Trong, on behalf of the CPV, government and people of Vietnam, warmly welcomed Xi Jinping's state visit to Vietnam. Nguyen Phu Trong expressed that Vietnam and China are friendly neighbors and enjoy a long-standing friendship. The profound friendship fostered by the older generations of leaders each side including President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong has become a shared treasure for the two peoples. Vietnam attaches great importance to the Vietnam-China relations, and stands ready to work with China to enhance traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation, and promote the sustained, healthy and stable development of Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. It is believed that General Secretary and President Xi Jinping's visit this time will certainly inject new impetus into Vietnam-China relations.

Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech that stepping on this beautiful and richly endowed land again after two years, I once again deeply felt the profound relationship from Vietnamese people to Chinese people. Today, Vietnam enjoys political and social stability and continuous development of economy, and Vietnamese people enjoy a happy and peaceful life. It is believed that under the firm leadership of the CPV, Vietnamese people are bound to build Vietnam into a strong, fair, democratic and civilized socialist modernized country where people live a wealthy life at an early date.

Xi Jinping stressed that my visit this time is to consolidate traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation, and make plans for the bright future of China-Vietnam relations. Both China and Vietnam adhere to the leadership of Communist Party, stick to the path of socialism, reinforce solidarity and cooperation, and pursue common development and prosperity, which is in the fundamental interests of the two peoples and conducive to peace, stability and development of the region and the world at large. China stands ready to work together with Vietnam to carry on the policy of long-term stability, future orientation, good-neighborly friendship and all-round cooperation and the spirit of good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners, so as to push forward China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for constant development.
