On November 14, 2017, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping returned to Beijing after his attendance at the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting and state visits to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the Central Leading Group for Financial and Economic Affairs Liu He, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor Yang Jiechi as well as other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

On the afternoon of November 14 local time, Xi Jinping left Vientiane of Laos for China. On the way to the airport, Lao teenagers waved national flags of both countries to see off the distinguished guest. A grand farewell ceremony was held at the airport, and local youths in national costumes lined the road to see Xi Jinping off. The guard of honor lined up on both sides of the red carpet. Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP), Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the LPRP Central Committee and Vice President Phankham Viphavanh, Member of the Political Bureau of the LPRP Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Vientiane Sinlavong Khoutphaythoun, Member of the Political Bureau of the LPRP Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandon as well as others saw Xi Jinping off at the airport. Xi Jinping shook hands with them and bade farewell kindly. Xi Jinping waved to the crowd when stepping on the gangway ladder. The people at the airport burst into prolonged cheers.
