On June 28, 2019 local time, President Xi Jinping met with President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa in Osaka.

Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese side is willing to continuously deepen political mutual trust and practical cooperation between China and South Africa. Both sides should continue to support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, strengthen the alignment of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the eight major initiatives of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) with the South African government's action plan for the next five years, deepen cooperation in such fields as production capacity, infrastructure construction, human resources development, digital economy, and high and new technology. The Chinese side is ready to share its experience in poverty eradication and other fields with the South African side and provide support for the South African side to achieve its development goals.

Xi Jinping pointed out that both China and South Africa are major developing countries. The Chinese side is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with the South African side to jointly uphold multilateralism, international fairness and justice, and well safeguard the common interests of China, South Africa and other developing countries.

Cyril Ramaphosa expressed congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and wished China new and greater achievements in its development. The South African side cherishes the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and thanks China for its long-term and valuable support. The South African side is ready to enhance exchanges of experience in state governance and administration with the Chinese side and closely align its own development with the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. South Africa also advocates equality and mutual respect between countries, opposes unilateralism and bullying in international trade and supports the Chinese side in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests. The South African side welcomes and supports Huawei and other Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in South Africa, and is ready to intensify communication and coordination with the Chinese side within such multilateral frameworks as the G20 and the BRICS.
