On March 23, 2019 local time, President Xi Jinping attended the grand farewell ceremony held by President Sergio Mattarella of Italy in Rome.

At around 9:50 a.m. local time, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived at the presidential palace. The two heads of state bid farewell to each other in a friendly manner. Xi Jinping thanked President Sergio Mattarella and the Italian government for their warm reception. Xi Jinping pointed out that during the visit, I held in-depth and friendly talks and meetings with Mr. President and other Italian leaders, which deepened bilateral mutual trust and practical cooperation in various fields. China and Italy should further intensify high-level exchanges to promote bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a new stage.

Sergio Mattarella extended warm congratulations on the complete success of President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Italy, and expressed that I had a candid, in-depth and fruitful dialogue with Mr. President, which is of vital importance to the promotion of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
