Xi Jinping Attends the Grand Farewell Ceremony Held by President Sergio Mattarella of Italy

On March 23, 2019 local time, President Xi Jinping attended the grand farewell ceremony held by President Sergio Mattarella of Italy in Rome.

At around 9:50 a.m. local time, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived at the presidential palace. The two heads of state bid farewell to each other in a friendly manner. Xi Jinping thanked President Sergio Mattarella and the Italian government for their warm reception. Xi Jinping pointed out that during the visit, I held in-depth and friendly talks and meetings with Mr. President and other Italian leaders, which deepened bilateral mutual trust and practical cooperation in various fields. China and Italy should further intensify high-level exchanges to promote bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a new stage.

Sergio Mattarella extended warm congratulations on the complete success of President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Italy, and expressed that I had a candid, in-depth and fruitful dialogue with Mr. President, which is of vital importance to the promotion of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter Laura Mattarella shook hands with members of the Chinese delegation to bid farewell. The military band played the national anthems of both China and Italy. The head of the guard of honor asked Xi Jinping to review. Accompanied by President Sergio Mattarella, Xi Jinping inspected the guard of honor. President Xi Jinping and his wife bid farewell to President Sergio Mattarella and Laura Mattarella before they got into the car.
